Rio Olympics 2016: Busan-based Shin Seung-chan Wins Bronze in Women’s Badminton Doubles

Shin Seung-chan (Samsung Electro-Mechanics badminton team) and Jung Kyung-eun took the bronze medal in the women's badminton doubles at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil on August 18, 2016. Busan Mayor Suh Byung-soo sent a special congratulatory message to Busan’s Shin Seung-chan and her family.

 

Shin Seung-chan also won the bronze medal in the women’s doubles at the 2014 BWF World Championships,  the gold medal in the mixed team, mixed doubles and women’s doubles at the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade, and the gold medal in the women’s doubles at the 2015 Denmark Super Series Premier. 

 

Among the Republic of Korea’s athletes and coaches competing in the Rio games, 33 athletes and coaches are affiliated with teams based in Busan City and 9 athletes and coaches hail from Busan.
