Sea diving
boards at Songdo Beach are open to the public this summer.
Sea diving
boards, which attracted attention in 1927 during the Japanese colonial period
as Korea’s first and only such installation, have been restored to celebrate
the 100th anniversary of the opening of Songdo Beach in 2013. The diving boards’
popularity created long line-ups last summer especially for young people.
Two sea
diving boards with a shape in honor of nearby Turtle Island have been installed
about 70 meters off the beach. Beachgoers need to swim to the diving boards and
can enjoy diving from a 5-meter high mother turtle board and a 3-meter high
baby turtle board. The sea diving boards will be operated from July 1 to
September 10 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m..
It may be closed due to inclement weather.
