Rio Paralympics 2016: Busan based Jo Gi-seong Won Gold in Swimming

Jo Gi-seong (Busan Sports Association for the Disabled) won a gold medal in the men’s 100 meter swimming freestyle event in the S4 classification at the Rio Paralympics on September 9, 2016. Busan Mayor Suh Byung-soo sent a special congratulatory message to Jo Gi-seong and his family.

 

Jo came to prominence by winning the 200 meter freestyle at the 2014 Asian Para Games and set championship records in the men’s 100 meter and 200 meter freestyle events at the 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships.

 

He will vie for more gold medals in the 50-meter and 200-meter freestyle in Rio.

 

Among Republic of Korean athletes and coaches competing in the Rio Paralympics 2016, 6 athletes and coaches are affiliated with teams based in Busan City.
