Global tech giant Microsoft Corp. will build a large data center in Gangseo-gu, Busan.

MS’s investment in Busan was made based on Busan’s ideal conditions regarding power supply, climate, disaster control and Internet connectivity.

Microsoft Korea CEO Alfred Koh announced the plan to build a data center in Busan on May 11th at Busan City Hall.

The construction of the MS Busan Data Center is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2017 and be completed by 2019. When the Microsoft Data Center is established, it is likely to cover the entire Asian region and Busan is expected to be the biggest hub for the cloud industry in Northeast Asia.

Microsoft will also build a data center in Seoul and further expand its cloud service.
