Global tech giant Microsoft Corp. will build a large data center in Gangseo-gu, Busan.
MS’s
investment in Busan was made based on Busan’s ideal conditions regarding power
supply, climate, disaster control and Internet connectivity.
Microsoft
Korea CEO Alfred Koh announced the plan to build a data center in Busan on May
11th at Busan City Hall.
The
construction of the MS Busan Data Center is scheduled to begin in the second
half of 2017 and be completed by 2019. When the Microsoft Data Center is
established, it is likely to cover the entire Asian region and Busan is expected
to be the biggest hub for the cloud industry in Northeast Asia.
Microsoft will also build a data center in
Seoul and further expand its cloud service.
