Busan City is ready to establish itself as a global city, as it has attracted a number of international events for 2008. The city will host huge cultural events and conventions, aiming to foster its image as an internationally known city.
Busan will receive international attention when it hosts the 2008 Busan World TreX-Games from Sept. 26 to Oct. 2. Over 10,000 athletes and staff from some 100 countries will take part in traditional and extreme sports and e-sports like "Starcraft.'
Also scheduled during the same period is the International Olympic Committee Sports Education Culture Forum, which is expected to attract some 1,000 global sports leaders to Busan.
Later this month, the city plans to launch the Busan Port's North Harbor Redevelopment Project. It will also begin the construction of an innovative city, in an aim to expand its urban infrastructure in full scale.
Busan also plans to step up its effort to attract more tourists from home and abroad by hosting several cultural events, such as the Busan Multimedia Fireworks Festival, Pusan International Film Festival, or PIFF, Busan Sea Festival, and the Jagalchi Culture and Tourism Festival.
