Seven new baseball fields will be built in Gijang-gun, Busan.

Busan Metropolitan City, Gijang-gun County and Hyundai Motor Company signed agreement on establishing a ‘Baseball Field of Dreams’ at Dongbaek-ri, Ilgwang-myeon, Gijang-gun. The aim is to promote baseball in Busan City.

Gijang-gun is providing the site for the baseball fields (a 176,515㎡ area of land), and Hyundai Motor Company will build four baseball fields there by 2014, with subsidiary facilities to be completed by 2015, and will then donate the Baseball Field of Dreams to Busan City and enjoy advertising rights at the fields for the next 30 years.

In addition, Busan City and Gijang-gun are planning to build one Little League baseball field and two multi-purpose baseball fields nearby the Baseball Field of Dreams.

Currently, there are about 560 amateur baseball teams in Busan with around 1,500 players. The number of amateur and youth baseball teams has been continuously increasing, so the city has recently been facing a severe shortage of baseball fields.

Busan City also signed a Busan Fireworks Festival support agreement with Hyundai Motor Company. The agreement will be effective for four years starting this year. The Busan Fireworks Festival will be held from October 26-27, 2012 at Gwangalli Beach.
A pre-festival K-POP concert will be co-hosted by Busan City and Hyundai Motor Company, and Hyundai Motor Company will also support the fireworks show to the tune of 200 million won every year as well.
