Number of visitors at the National Maritime Museum reaches 310,000 in its first month

National Maritime Museum located in Dongsam-dong, Yeongdo-gu is proving to be popular right from the start. The number of visitors to the museum since its opening in July 2012 has already reached 310,000. 

According to the National Maritime Museum, the average number of visitors reached around 6,030 during weekdays and 18,000 during weekends since its opening on July 9. By August 12, the total number of visitors to the museum had reached 317,441. The reservation-based children’s museum is also popular with an average 500 visitors per day. 

The most popular spots in the museum are the major relics’ exhibition, the tunnel on the 3rd floor with about 800 species of fish, and the maritime library with its 20,000 maritime-related books.

In addition, visitors can watch a video about Dokdo once a day, at 9:30am, for free.  

Foreign language audio guides are available in English, Japanese and Chinese. To receive the service, you need to reserve by phone before visiting the museum at 051) 309-1900
