One of Busan’s iconic historic sites, Dongnae Fortress, is now beautifully illuminated at night. Dongnae-gu District, which was one of the ancient centers of the city, recently completed the second stage of the Dongnae Fortress Night Illumination Project is part of the larger Dongnae Recreation Project. The illumination of the 270 meter long entry to the fortress and around Seojangdae (west watchtower) has now been completed.

The first stage of the project completed in 2012, includes the north gate of Dongnae Fortress, which stretches 350 meters, Bukjangdae (north watchtower), and Insaengmun (gate). The project was runner-up at the 2nd Annual Korea Scenery Awards last year.

Visitors can enjoy a wide array of lights - soft, magnificent and dynamic lights harmonizing with nature - on each site at Dongnae Fortress. Walkways have also been well lit to increase accessibility, and Dongnae-gu residents are encouraged to walk around the fortress at night while taking in the beautiful nightscape.

To maintain Dongnae Fortress’s original beauty, energy efficient LED (light-emitting diode) lights with granite cases were used in construction.

All lights will be operated from 8 to 10 pm from May to August and from 7:30 to 9:30 pm from September to December and January to April.
