Haeundae, Taejongdae and Jagalchi Market: Survey identifies the “Nine Best Places of Busan” 


Among the “Nine best places in Busan” chosen by citizens of and tourists to Busan, Diamond (Gwangan) Bridge, Haeundae and Taejongdae were named. Photo shows the view of the Diamond Bridge.


The No. 1 tourist attraction of Busan is Diamond (Gwangan) Bridge. Other popular destinations are Haeundae Beach, Taejongdae, Jagalchi Market, Gwangalli Beach, Igidae, Gukje Market, Geoga Bridge and Dalmaji (“greet the moon”) Hill.


Those are the results of a Busan Tourism Organization survey to determine the “Nine Best Places of Busan” in commemoration of the 2013 Visit Busan/Ulsan/Gyeongnam Year.


The organization will promote the results as “must-visit” destinations of Busan by creating tourism-related materials for domestic and foreign tourists.


This survey was conducted June 26 to July 31 through the Web sites of the Busan Tourism Organization and Busan City Culture and Tourism Department. It generated 5,360 responses from residents of Korea, including 1,635 from people living in Busan, who each selected three favorite destinations.


Participants rated Galmaet-gil (“seagull road”), Haeundae Beach, Busan Cinema Center, Sajik Baseball Stadium and 40 other destinations of Busan. Diamond (Gwangan) Bridge received 2,342 votes, followed by Haeundae Beach (1,112), Taejongdae (1,083), Jagalchi Market (676), Gwangalli Beach (666), Igidae (634), Gukje Market (594), Geoga Bridge (558) and Dalmaji Road (556).


Diamond Bridge was the top choice of voters in all age groups. Other destinations in the Top 20 were Mt. Geumjeong Fortress, Galmaet-gil, Sajik Baseball Stadium, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, Busan Aquarium, Nurimaru APEC House, Gamcheon Culture Village, Dadaepo Sunset Fountain of Dreams, Beomeosa Templ e, the night view of Mt. Hwangnyeong and Songdo Beach.


“Besides the ‘Nine Best Places of Busan,’ we will endeavor to foster more destinations for Koreans and foreigners to ensure that Busan will remain a prominent tourism city,” said a Busan Tourism Organization official. In addition, BTO gave out prizes such as an iPad, digital camera and tickets on the Tiffany 21 Cruise to participants of the event who won through lucky draws.
