Busan English Broadcasting (FM 90.5MHz) will offer a news and information program in Chinese next month after receiving approval from the Korea Communications Standards Commission in July.

Starting at the end of October, Busan e-FM will present an hour of Chinese language local and China news and information.

Since it went on the air in 2009, Busan e-FM has broadcast in English 24 hours a day to foreigners living in the city. To accommodate the ever-increasing number of Chinese nationals in Busan, the station decided to start a Chinese language program.

It has hired Chinese producers, presenters and reporters, and Korean writers fluent in Chinese.

With the new program, the station hopes to expand its audience as a foreign language broadcasting station and become a trusted source of useful information for Chinese residents of Busan and students learning Chinese. The program will air at 9 p.m. each night for one hour.
