Busan Women's Center has announced that two cooking instructors of the center, Jeon Hae-kyung and Lee Soon-ae, won a gold medal and participation prize respectively in the individual competition at the IKA / World Culinary Olympics 2012 in Erfurt, Germany, during the Oct. 5-10 event.

The IKA / Culinary Olympics is the world's largest professional competition for chefs and pastry chefs, and is hosted by the German Chefs Association. Held for the first time in 1900, the contest takes place every four years, and chefs from 45 countries around the world participated in the team and individual competitions this year.

The two winning cooking instructors from Busan teach a variety of cooking courses at Busan Women's Center. Their entries in the competition were highly praised for the presentation of the main dish, and the use of various garnish ingredients, especially traditional Korean ingredients such as gochujang (red pepper paste) in the main dish.

An official of the Women's Center said, "Participating in the World Culinary Olympics has become a chance to boost the level of professionalism among cooking instructors and this will help to improve the quality of education. We will strive to further improve the quality of our courses."
