Busan Metropolitan City and the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) will host the 2012 Asia Series at Sajik Baseball Stadium from November 8-11. Six teams from five different nations including Korea, Japan, Chinese Taipei, China and Australia have been invited to take part in this year's Asia Series.
The participating teams are the local Lotte Giants team (KBO 2) based in Busan, as well as the championship winning teams of the Korean Series (KBO 1), the Nippon Professional Baseball League (NPB), the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) and the China Baseball League (CBL), and Perth Heat, the champion of 2011/2012 Australian Baseball League (ABL).
This year's tournament format will see the six teams divided into two pools: Pool A and Pool B. The team with the highest winning percentage from each pool will advance to play the championship game, which will be held on November 11th at 2 p.m.
▶ Pool A: Lamigo Monkeys, China Stars, Samsung Lions (KBO 1)
▶ Pool B: Perth Heat, Yomiuri Giants, Lotte Giants (KBO 2)
500 million won will be awarded to the winning team, with 300 million won going to the runners-up and 50 million won to each of the other four teams.
