The Epic Opera ‘Moses’ First Performance in Busan

Rossini’s larger-than-life opera, ‘Moses,’ is famous for its excellent musical nuances and magnificent stage scale will be performed for the first time in Busan. The production has a company of 150 staffs and will cost 180 million for cost. The Onnuri Opera Group will perform on stage at 7:30 P.M. from the 21st to 24th at the large theater in the Busan Cultural Center. Thirty singers, the 50 member CBS Orchestra, the 55 member Peros Choir of Kosin University, the Yesun dance company, stage staff, and others for a of total 150 people will participate in the performance. Moreover Andrea Capelleri from Italy will direct enhancing the value of the opera.
‘Moses’ is made up of four acts and depicts the Exodus in the Old Testament. Act 1, ‘Desert of Egypt, takes place in the land of the Midians and starts with the chorus expressing the earnest hope of Israelites with Moses to return to the land of milk and honey. Act 2 is subtitled ‘Palace of Pharaoh, King of Egypt.’ Act 3 is ‘Outside of the Palace, the Shrine of Iside’ and Act 4, ‘Desert Over the Red Sea.’ The exodus encompasses two conflicting structures between Israel and Egypt, and the love between an Israeli woman and Egyptian man.
