Nature vs. Man-made, Conflict or Harmony"
The Eco-center at the Nakdong River, Busan, Korea
The Busan International Architectural Competition Organizing Committee, which is a part of the Busan International Architectural Culture Festival under the auspices of the UIA, has organized the 3rd International Architectural Competition around the installation of an Ecological Center that will be placed in the Nakdong River Area of Busan.
The 'Eco-center' is to serve as a center for a natural reservation and an ecological education facility for the southern part of Republic of Korea. The Eco-center will show how human being can live harmoniously with the natural environment. At the same time, this facility will be a place that shows the past, the present and the future ecological environment of the Nakdong River area. To educate people regarding the relationships between the living things and the lifeless things and the relationships between human being and natural environment by displaying the objects around site area. In this context, with this facility will play a central role as an educational institution which shows that the heavily developed natural environment will cause a critical disaster for both human being and nature.
At the same time, this facility will show how people and nature can co-exist with harmony. Thus, the building has to have the issue of co-existence of the human being and the nature with positive and futuristic vision.

1st Prize USD $20,000 and the right to design the design development stage
2nd Prize USD $15,000
3rd Prize USD $10,000
