Busan Transportation Corporation has announced that it started to offer a free wireless internet service from June 7 on five Metro station platforms including those at Seomyeon, Yeonsan-dong, Deokcheon, Suyeong and Centum City.

In April, these five Metro stations were selected on the basis of the number of passengers passing through them, and during May the planning and installation of the system was completed. Test operations were carried out for a week before launch of the service.

Free wireless internet access can be enjoyed on wireless terminals such as laptop computers or PDAs that have a Wi-Fi Modem login-free process at these five designated Metro stations.

The Busan Transportation Corporation plans to expand the Wi-Fi service to other Metro stations in Busan and to provide WiBro (Wireless Broadband) or the Korean version of the mobile WiMAX as well.
