The Geoga Bridge (8.2 km), connecting Gadeokdo Island in Busan with Jangmok-myeon in Geoje, and part of the massive bridge/tunnel project to connect Geoje Island with Gadeokdo Island, successfully put in place the last bridge deck section on May 26, thereby completing the bridge’s span. Prior to this, on May 21, the last of 18 tunnel sections was also successfully installed. When the fixed link opens this December, the distance between Busan and Geoje will be reduced from 140km to 60km and the travel time between the two cities will be reduced to just 40 minutes, from the current 2 hours and 10 minutes.
