Urban soundproofing wall transformed into a thing of beauty

Nam-gu District completed its green soundproofing wall project in June. The project aims to make the urban environment more attractive for pedestrians and drivers alike through greening measures.
Flowers and grasses have been planted all along the 103 square meter soundproofing wall of Daeyeon Beach Apartment in Daeyeon 3-dong.
Perennial plants have been planted on a vegetation mat structure installed on the wall and a water pipe was also integrated into the structure to aid with watering.
Neighborhood residents have already expressed their pleasure at seeing the dull grey concrete walls being beautified.
A Nam-gu official said: ”Previously, green wall projects were limited to ivy-covered walls but this vegetation mat structure makes it possible to plant a variety of different kinds of flowers and grasses on the wall. We will gradually expand the project after gaining positive responses from citizens.”
