The Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone (BJFEZ) Authority, which has been making efforts to draw a top-notch international medical center to the zone, signed an agreement with major institutions for investment and financing on Tuesday (Aug.1).
KNC Capital Advisors, Woori Bank and ABN AMRO agreed to finance BJFEZ's plan to establish a foreign medical institution in the FEZ's Myeongji district to further accommodate the needs of foreigners and foreign investors living and working there.
The agreement is seen as a major step forward in the process of attracting a foreign medical service provider within the area. A U.S. institution will conduct a feasibility study within this year to determine details regarding the establishment of the medical center.
"Foreign medical institutions in the free economic zone are only part of the basic infrastructure needed to further attract foreign direct investment, creating a convenient living and working environment for foreign corporations and their employees," said a PR manager of the authority.
