The Ministry of Labor (MOL) plans to hold a briefing session for the 14th ILO Asia-Pacific Regional Conference for embassy officials from the Asia-Pacific region on July 12.

In the session attended by representatives from around 20 foreign embassies, including Japan, Russia and India, the ministry plans to explain the details of the major programs and other preparatory work involving the ILO conference to be held in Busan for four days from Aug. 29.

Ministry officials are seeking the participating countries' cooperation in hosting the event.

The event will be managed jointly by the ILO and MOL, with some 600 persons, including the ministers of labor from 43 Asia-Pacific countries, attending.

At the general meeting -- under the theme "generating high quality jobs in Asia" --participants will push cooperation in the labor field among Asia-Pacific countries. Korea expects to use this development as an opportunity to take a leading role in the ILO for the Asia-Pacific region.
