The world’s most brilliant advertisements can be seen in Busan. Busan City and the Advertising Festival Organizing Committee will host Ad Stars 2014 from Aug. 21-23 at BEXCO, Haeundae.
This year’s festival has drawn a total of 12,591 ads from 62 countries, a record number for the event and the most in Asia. The judging committee consists of 208 professionals from 60 countries who have selected 1,666 advertisements to compete in the finals. They will be on display to the public and vie for the grand prix award.
With more than 10,000 submitted works for the third consecutive year, Ad Stars has grown to become one of Asia’s leading advertising festivals since it started five years ago.
The number of ad entries is 2.5 times more than Thailand’s advertising festival, Spikes Asia, and four times that of Ad Fest, an Asia-Pacific festival. Not only the number, but the quality and level of entries have advanced significantly, as entries compete with ads that have won prizes at the prestigious Cannes Lions or NYF (New York Festival).
Among the entries in the finals is an ad for Honda Motors by Dentsu, Japan’s biggest agency, as well as work by Sweden’s Forsman & Bodenfors Gothenburg. Other participants include Japan’s TBWA Hakuhodo and Korea’s Che
il Communications, which submitted its ad for the UN Refugee Agency. Korean ad companies have 514 entries in the finals, Japan 252 and China 149. There also are advertisements from Europe, the Americas, Australia, Africa and the Middle East.
A highlight of the festival will be lectures by leading advertising professionals. World renowned ad executives will hold diverse seminars, and there will be special exhibitions. The Creative School, which teaches creativity to adolescents and adults, also will be held during the festival.
