Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) Organizing Committee held a press conference on September 10 to announce this year’s BIFF main schedule and program.
The opening film of the 17th BIFF (Busan International Film Festival) will be ‘Cold War’, co-directed by Longman LEUNG and Sunny LUK from Hong Kong, China. The closing film will be “Television”, directed by Mostofa Sarwar FAROOKI, from Bangladesh.
The 17th BIFF will be held for ten days from October 4-13, 2012 at a total of seven theaters including the Busan Cinema Center, CGV Centum City, and Lotte Cinema Centum City. A total of 304 films from 75 countries have been invited to screen at the 17th BIFF.
The films include 93 world premieres, 39 international premiers, 30 Asian Project Market (APM) projects, 8 script development fund projects, 6 post-production fund projects and 17 projects supported by the Asia Cinema Fund (ACF).
Mayor Hur Nam-sik said, “We have prepared carefully for this first full year of the era of the Busan Cinema Center, to make the festival enjoyable, energetic and attractive.” and he added, “A variety of different genres of movies from many Asian countries will be screened at the BIFF.”
