Busan's ITU Telecom Asia 2004 (In BEXCO, September 13th ∼ 19th, 2004)

ITU Telecom Asia 2004, called the Asia Games of IT, will be held in Busan. The ITU office decided on Busan as the host city to hold "The 7th Telecom Asia" An Sang-young Mayor announced on the 10th of April. ITU finally decided that busan should be the city of this event after a keen competition with Thailand. And after collecting 300 IT Companies and the opinion of the governing body. When Busan holds "ITU Telecom Asia 2004", 500 Exhibition Companies, 50,000 Visitors(from home and abroad), Foreign Ministers, Business CEO's, the press corps and other participants will visit Busan. The Economic benefits of this event will reach approximately ₩185,000,000,000. During the period in which this event is held, we can advertize our development in the Information and Communication field, enhance the value of IT Korea and contribute to the advancements in Busan's tourism & culture industry. Busan competed with other 7 countries, such as Thailand, Shanhangi(China), Tokyo(Japan), Kuala Lumpur(Malaysia), New Delhi(India), Singapore and so on. The Central Government's national position actively and positively supports Busan's attractive strategy and domestic IT business participation. Busan Metropolitan City and in conjunction with BEXCO have decided to hold this event in BEXCO from September 13th to the 19th provisionally. Busan City will change from the "ITU Attraction Committee" to the "ITU Organizing Committee" under the support of the IT Minister and take effort to prepare this event. Our Mayor adds, "This event will bring practical benefits in the economy similar to the Asian Games and propel Busan further into international standing. Furthermore, this event will help Busan to hold more international events, such as the upcoming Summit Meeting plus the future Cabinet Meeting of APEC 2005 and many more to follow.
