A new landmark at Busan Station, the ‘Plaza Fountain’ located in front of the Station building, officially started operating from May 19.

Construction of the fountain, located at 1202, Choryang 3-dong, Dong-gu (and covering a 1,250 area of Busan Station Plaza), started last May and was completed this January. Before its official opening, there was a trial period which was successfully completed. The fountain is 40 meters in diameter and shoots water 20 meters high. The total construction cost amounted to 4.538 billion won.

The new high-tech fountain can create various water shapes in time to music. LED lights installed in the central sculpture, which is made with tempered glass, will produce a variety of colors. The fountain is fully equipped with a water screen, LEDs, a beam projector, a laser, and moving light functions. The fountain’s operating hours are from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily and it will be maintained by Busan’s Dong-gu District.

An official of the Construction Headquarters said, “Busan Station Fountain has been renovated and transformed into a high-tech fountain after 40 years. We expect that the new fountain, featuring LED lights, sweet music and a laser show, will improve the city’s image and visitors’ first impression of Busan..”
