Flower-themed artworks recently went on display at Haeundae Beach.
Haeundae-gu District revealed the new photo zone on Haeundae Beach to the public on March 25 following a construction ceremony.
The zone is intended both as a big new attraction on the beach where visitors can take pictures, and as a symbol of Haeundae-gu District’s efforts to beautify the area.
Costing 800 million won ($731,261) to build, the photo zone is a piece of installment art by Dennis Oppenheim, a world famous artist selected by the Busan Biennale Organizing Committee. The photo zone resembles the inside of a flower, and is made with a steel pipe, and a polycarbonate pillar 8.5 meters wide, 8 meters long and 6 meters high. Visitors can walk right through the nine flower petals.
