The 5th Busan Christmas Tree Festival (Nov. 30-Jan. 5, Gwangbok-dong)

The 5th Busan Christmas Tree Festival will be held from Nov. 30 to Jan 5.

Busan’s major locale, Gwangbok-ro in Jung-gu (district) will be aglow with Christmas tree lights for 37 days during the 5th Busan Christmas Tree Festival.

The theme of this year’s festival is “Love & Healing” and will showcase Christmas tree decorations with fabulous illumination and movement. The festival will be held under five themes in five sections.

The theme of the main gate, which is the entrance of Gwangbok-ro, will be “Shower With Love.”

Tourists who visit the festival will pass the “Spring of Love” gate and experience the exuberance and thrill of being invited to the Christmas festival. Visitors can admire a 6.4-meter (21-foot) Christmas tree in the shape of a fountain.

A 20-meter tall tree can be admired from the “Star of Christmas Tree” section. Triangles are connected to form a star-shaped tree, and it feels as if stars and hearts will fall upon one’s head.

The A section is 440 meters long from the entrance of Gwangbok-ro to City Spot and is called the “Christmas Tree Is the Best Present.” B section is 390 meters from City Spot to Busan Modern History Museum and is called “Healing Road.”

The C section is 330 meters from City Spot to the four-way interse ction of Gukje Market and called the “Blessing of an Angel.”

There are plenty of experience programs for visitors to the festival. One can take photos of the world’s smallest model church and the Christmas train.

The new “Proposal Zone” allows couples to take photos in a heart-shaped area.

There will be a daily concert and an audition program called “I Am a Christmas Star.” At the A section, artificial snow will be sprinkled to enliven the mood.

The opening ceremony will be at 7 p.m. November 30 at Gwangbok-ro City Spot.
