Busan Bus and Metro Fares to Increase from November 23.

Busan bus and metro fares are set to increase on November 23. Bus fares will increase by 11.1 percent - from 1,080 won to 1,200 won and metro fares will increase by 9.1 percent - from 1,100 won to 1,200 won. Express bus fares will remain unchanged.

The new bus and metro fares will go into effect at 4 a.m. on November 23, 2013.

The last bus fare increase was in 2010, while the last metro fare increase was in 2011. 

Rising fuel prices, increased overheads, maintenance to outdated facilities as well as the launching of new bus routes are all being blamed for the rate hike.

Included in the cost of the bus and metro fare increase, the City of Busan will also carry out its public transportation improvement plan.
