The Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) has now completed its expansion project. The new 2nd BEXCO Exhibition Center and the BEXCO Auditorium opened to the public on June 1, 2012.
As a multi-purpose international conference & exhibition facility with a total floor space of 29,317 square meters, the 4,002-seat auditorium with tiered seating is capable of hosting not only exhibitions and conferences but also cultural, art and music events. The exterior of the building resembles a sailboat cutting through the waves.
The main BEXCO Exhibition Center and the newly-built, five-story 2nd BEXCO Exhibition Center to which it is connected via a pedestrian overpass, now cover a 46,457㎡ site. Combined, they constitute the second largest exhibition facility in the country, after the KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do. An additional 2,078 car parking spaces will cater to the increase in the number of visitors.
Shinsegae and Lotte Department Stores, Busan Cinema Center, Busan Museum of Art and accommodations are all within walking distance of the BEXCO, and Haeundae's main tourist attractions are also nearby.
With a total of 213,849㎡, BEXCO is now twice as large as before, and is expected to become widely acknowledged as the premier exhibition & convention center in the country, as well as a top-notch cultural facility for opera and musical performances.
Busan, ranked the fourth most popular international convention city in Asia, is stepping up to challenge for an even higher ranking as a center for exhibitions and conventions.
