The 9th annual Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF) ended its 9 day run by screening “The Scarlet Letter.” After the executive committee chairman’s, Kim Dong-ho, gave a progress report, there was an awards ceremony, celebratory performances and the closing film. The only competitive section in PIFF, New Currents Award that is given to a new Asian director went to Lee Yoon-ki for “This Charming Girl” and Kim Soo-hyun’s film “So Cute” was given a special mention. In all 262 films from 63 countries were invited to the festival and shown in more than 9 sections such as “A Window on Asian Cinema,” “New Currents,” “Wide Angle” and other categories. The movie, “21 Grams” and two others were cancelled.
A total of 166,164 people attended the films, which is an 84.8% occupation rate. This is 1.8% higher than last year’s. Famous guests.
