The virtuosos of piano come to Busan this autumn. The “Philosopher on the keyboard,” Russell Sherman, and David Helfgott from the movie, “Shine,” will perform concerts in Busan. It is expected to be combination of outstanding performances and marvelous genius. Russell Sherman is a distinguished artist-in-residence at the New England Conservatory and will have a concert at 7:30 at Busan Cultural Center on the 21st. He taught representative Korean pianists as Baik Hae-sun (professor of the Music School at Seoul National University), Park Su-jin (professor at Sookmyung Women’s University) and was married to Byun Hwa-gyung who graduated from Seoul National University and went to New England Conservatory as a scholarship student. He wrote an essay called “The Piano Story” that has won high praise by Seamus Heaney, Nobel Laureate. He will perform works by Beethoven, Debussy, Bartok, Liszt and other great composers.
