9th Annual PIFF: Opens Oct 7 for 9 days, 264 films, Tickets on Sale the 23rd

The Pusan International Film Festival will show 264 films with subtitles from 63 countries in the world as well as various posters, still photos, videotapes and other materials. A staff of 119 augmented by 440 volunteers are setting up the displays and preparing to show the films. The film festival begins October 7th with films being shown at Nampo-dong, Haeundae and Suyeong Outdoor Theaters. The festival’s planners are expecting 170 thousand people to participate in the 9 days of film fun. Many prominent directors and actors will visit Busan including Chinese director, Wong Kar Wei, Japanese director, Iwai Shunji, Sylvia Chang and many others. PIFF will show 23 new projects by Asian director as part of its Pusan Promotion Plan (PPP). The plan will promote the festival as not only a place to watch film, but to produce it as well.
There will be performances and events such as a parade of film characters, mimes, magic shows, dance performances, and concerts, wherever films are shown. There are only about 20 days left before the festival opens. Tickets go on sale September 23rd.
