The city will open the "era of coastal cruises" for the first time in Korea on April 2.

PanStarLine Dot Com, a Busanheadquartered passenger liner has fixed April 2 as the date for launching the nation's first "coastal cruise" service, which, starting from Busan, will offer passengers opportunities to not just navigate through Hallyeo Waterway and Dadohae but tour major spa attractions in Japan.

Currently, foreign cruise ships make irregular stops at Busan temporarily to allow their passengers to have a look around the city and depart quickly. This is the first time a cruise tour made its debut in Korea.

PanStarLine is currently remodeling the interior of a 15,000-ton passenger ship for this purpose. Christened "Pan Star Honey," this vessel can accommodate 500 passengers excluding the crew. It will be equipped with various facilities such as a swimming pool, restaurants, performance hall, saunas and children's playing area.

The nation's first coastal cruise ship, which will start from and return to Busan, will offer two basic courses depending on the destinations.
