President Roh expresses thanks to all people for successful hosting of APEC summit

President Roh Moo-hyun praised all Korean people, especially government officials and volunteers, on Monday (Nov. 21) for their excellent preparations and works during the APEC Summit forum held in Busan at a meeting with his top secretaries at Cheong Wa Dae.

Noting that the successful hosting of the APEC Summit was fully attributable to the government's perfect preparation and volunteers' devoted supports, Roh said, “The government made such a flawless preparation with creative ideas beyond imagination. In particular, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade displayed its outstanding ability in holding the international event in close cooperation with other ministries and agencies.”

Roh said, “The successful hosting of the APEC Summit in Busan gave us confidence that a local city can also host a big international meeting. It is a great thing that Busan citizens accepted various sufferings and inconveniences caused by the meeting, showing their excellent ability and high level of citizens' consciousness.”

Commenting that the nation could boast of its high ability by hosting top-level dinner party and performance, Roh added, “I won praises from many heads of APEC member countries for the well-prepared events.”
