English radio station prepares special programming lineup for anniversary

Busan’s first English radio broadcasting station, e-FM (FM 90.5), will feature a host of special live broadcasts and programs to celebrate its first anniversary on Feb. 27.

Under the theme “I Love Busan,” the station will kick things off at 9 a.m. with a look back at the English broadcasting station’s first year in business and present its vision for the future.

e-FM will host a program at 10 a.m. that introduces listeners to some of the city’s most beautiful spots and top places to visit, followed by a show at noon highlighting local food.

The “I Love Busan Concert” program is scheduled to start at 2 p.m., featuring foreign bands singing about the city in a variety music show in front of a live audience. At 3 p.m., the station will air a show in which foreign residents can show off their Busan dialects and compete against other expats.

The special programming lineup wraps up at 4 p.m. with a series of stories by people about their encounters with locals and expats, a show that hopes to provide a glimpse into the spirit and character of Busan’s residents. Anyone can participate in the live program via SMS text (#9050) or telephone (051-851-9955~6).

e-FM is a primary source for local news, stories about daily life in Busan and tourism and transportation information in English for foreign residents. It is also helping widen the global mind-set of citizens and help them learn English. The station airs English programs for 21 hours a day.

e-FM employees meet to talk about the special shows planned on the station’s birthday.
