Top 10 Hit Products of 2011 in Busan

Busan Development Institute has selected the ‘Top 10 Hits of 2011 in Busan’ under five categories -  Busan-based products, policies, people and organizations, architecture, and companies -  that have had a very positive effect on the city’s development. Busan-based products feature prominently in the list of nationwide hit products – reflecting regional characteristics. The hit products have been chosen based on the recommendations of experts via interviews and email.


 

1.Busan Cinema Center, the main venue of the Busan International Film Festival(BIFF), opened on September 29, 2011. This year’s BIFF at the Busan Cinema Center was a great success.

2.Fourth High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness(HLF-4) was successfully held at BEXCO from November 29 to December 1, 2011

3.Rev Fr. John Lee Tae-seok, a salesian missionary from Republic of Korea who worked in South Sudan among the poorest of the poor but tragically passed away this year at the age of 48.

4.Busan-based company Daesun Distilling Co., Ltd. launched Jeulgeoweoye, a new low-alcoholic soju, in June 2011.

5.Choi Dong-won, one of the top pitchers in the professional Korean baseball league in the 1980s, died of cancer in September 2011.

6.Busan International Rock Festival is a leading annual music festival in Republic of Korea, representing the openness, youthful vigor and coastal city characteristics of Busan. This year’s festival was held at Samnak Waterfront Park from August 5 through August 7, 2011.

7.Mackerel, designated as the official city fish on July 6, 2011

Busan-based company TrekSta’s footwear has received a lot of praise for its advanced technology and high quality from the foreign media. 

9.Cloud Computing
 
Busan City signed an agreement with LG CNS on establishing a Global Cloud Data Center at Mieum Industrial Estate, in Gangseo-gu District, in June 2011.
