High-tech LED lights for Gwangan Bridge

Busan’s landmark structure, Gwangan Bridge (or Diamond Bridge as it is also known) will be newly transformed with the installation of high-tech LED lights.
The ‘Light of hope, Light of leap’ proposal submitted by Busan-based company Dongyoung Enterprise Co., Ltd. consortium was selected as the winning proposal for the Gwangan Bridge Exterior Lighting project, with the concept, “Shining”.
With a total investment of 9.6 billion won, the project is expected to be completed in time for the BIFF and Busan International Fireworks Festival in 2012.
For the new exterior lighting of Gwangan Bridge, the ‘Light of hope, Light of leap’ proposes ‘moving lighting’ equipped with media functions rather than a fixed lighting system. A variety of illuminations using media contents on the façades of the anchor blocks and trusses of Gwangan Bridge and their original design were both highly esteemed.
Media facades are innovative ways of combining modern design and architecture. LED lighting installed on exterior of buildings today feature not only illuminations but also characters and multimedia.
