Busan Station Culture Square turns into an art market.
Along with cultural performances and its nightly fountain show, Dong-gu District is holding a free market every Friday from August until October exhibiting and selling the artwork of local artists at Busan Station Culture Square. The free market opens from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. in August and from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. in September and October.
A ‘Free Market’ is one that takes place on an open space such as in the street or the park. Local artists exhibit and sell their artworks and citizens come to browse and buy them. This is an art market and festival all rolled into one, where artists and citizens can naturally communicate with each other.
A district official said, “Through the expansion of a variety of cultural events including cultural performances, the fountain show, a laser show, and now the free market, Busan Station Square is turning into a cultural center right in the heart of the old downtown area”, and added, “The cultural events will help revitalize the regional economy by attracting domestic and international tourists alike.”
※ The free market may close due to inclement weather conditions.
