A smarter way to enjoy Haeundae Beach

From this year, visitors to Haeundae Beach will be using a "smart beach system" to rent beach gear.

Instead of using cash to rent parasols or tubes, or to use locker rooms or showers, patrons will have to pay using vouchers purchased using their mobile phones, credit cards or cash.

Visitors using smartphones can download a special beach application that lets them enter the amount and method of payment. They will then receive a QR code (currently available only in Korean) that they can redeem to rent the items they want. Visitors without smartphones can pay by accessing the beach's web site and then downloading the QR code onto their phone or printing it out. People unable to use either of these methods can buy tickets to the value they need at automated ticket machines or ticket booths with cash or credit card.

○ Smartphones: download smart beach application ▶enter amount and method of payment ▶receive a QR code ▶redeem the QR code to rent beach gear
○ Visit smart beach web site (http://smartbeach.co.kr) ▶ pay through web site ▶ download QR code onto phones or print them out
○ Buy tickets to the value needed at automated ticket machines or ticket booths
