The 19th Annual Busan International Film Festival, which runs from October 2-11, has selected its official poster marking the beginning of intense preparations.
The official poster is based on an original work entitled Emotion1/4 Y.R.G.W by Korean painted sculpture artist Lee Hyuck Jin, and designed by the Busan International Film Festival’s art director, Choi Soon-dae.
Emotion1/4 Y.R.G.W by Lee Hyuck Jin is a ‘painted sculpture’ produced by combining pictures and long pieces cut from boards made of fiber and resin. These were assembled by entwining horizontal and vertical pieces, much like traditional Korean basket weaving, and painted on the surface. The ‘togetherness’ of films, audiences, and cineastes is represented by the intertwined pieces while the bright colors reflect the celebratory nature of the Busan International Film Festival.
Lee Hyuck Jin strives to produce works outside the traditional structures of art by utilizing original techniques for painted sculptures, incorporating colorful, intense images in his designs.
The selection of the official poster kick starts the Busan International Film Festival Organizing Committee’s efforts in preparing film and guest invitations as well as event planning. The Busan International Film Festival opens on October 2, 2014, and will be held for 10 days.
