Metro Line 4 to open on March 30

Metro Line 4, also known as the Blue Line or the Bansong Line, is now in trial operation and is scheduled to officially open to the public on March 30. It will be the first time that a fully automated light-rail train will run in Korea. 

Busan Transportation Corporation will complete trial operations on March 8 and will then provide a free ride for Busan citizens from March 15 until 25.

The 12.7 kilometer long Metro Line 4 consists of 14 stations ？ 8 under ground (7.2㎞) and 6 above ground (5.5㎞) - connecting Minam Rotary and Anpyoeng. Construction started in December 2003 and has required a total investment of 1.25 trillion won. Transferring to Metro Line 4 will be possible from Dongnae Station on Line 1 and Minam Station on Line 3 and trains on Metro Line 4 will operate 300 times a day.

An Jun-tae, the president of the Busan Transportation Corporation said, “The opening of Metro Line 4 will bring tremendous traffic convenience to residents in Dongnae-gu, Geumjeong-gu and Haeundae-gu districts. In addition, Busan will begin to play a leading role in the use of light-rail both here in Korea and abroad.” He then pledged to “… make sure the opening of Metro Line 4 goes well.”
