The official name of the festival (PIFF) was changed to ‘Busan International Film Festival’!

Since Feb 24th, the official festival name was changed to ‘Busan International Film Festival’ from ‘Pusan International Film Festival’. The festival committee has confirmed the new official name of the festival at the regular general meeting 2011.
Following the Roman alphabet’s internal notation revised in 2000, the original English name of the city ‘Pusan’ has been changed to ‘Busan’, but the festival has maintained the original name. As a result, there has been constant confusion with the names between the city and the festival.
Therefore, the festival committee has decided to unite all the related name of festival such as event and facilities with the name of the city.
Upon the decision, ‘Pusan Promotion Plan’, which is the biggest project market in Asia, was changed to ‘Asian Project Market’.
The changes upon the new official name of the festival are below;

◯ Cinematheque Pusan à Cinematheque Busan
◯ Pusan Promotion Plan à Asian Project Market
◯ Asian Film Market (No Changes)
◯ Asian Film Academy (No Changes)
◯ Asian Cinema Fund (No Changes)
◯ The new cultural complex: Busan Cinema Center (Newly Constructed)
