Green energy symposium set for October 2008

About 1,200 people from 60 countries are expected to attend

 

Busan has been designated as the host city for the Renewable Energy 2008, or the RE2008, a symposium participated in by Asia-Pacific countries in preparation for the World Renewable Energy Congress. The RE2008 will be held in October, 2008. Other cities, including Daegu, Daejeon, Jeju and Gwangju, vied with Busan to host the biennial event.

 

In the first event held in Makuhari, Japan, in 2006, a total of 680 theses on renewable energy technologies were presented and 580 businesses from 12 countries submitted items of their technology related to the exhibition.

 

The second RE2008 will be held in Busan for six days from Oct. 13, 2008. During the event, 1,200 experts from 60 countries will present their theses and new technologies on photo voltaic energy and hydrogen fuel cells. A variety of power generation facilities and energy system equipments will also be exhibited.

 

Clean, renewable energy is expected to play a key role in the future of the energy sector, which is expected to post about 2.3 percent annual growth until 2020 worldwide. Busan City also plans to host the first Environment & Energy Tech 2007 at the BEXCO in September, with 160 businesses from 10 countries participating. During the event, the Korea Energy Festival, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, or MOCIE, will also be held.
