Korea's second largest city will hold an eight-day beach festival with upgraded event programs.
Busan, Korea's largest port city and second largest city after Seoul, will hold its 12th beach festival from Aug. 1 to 8 with concerts by famous singers and performances.
The festival will kick off on Aug. 1 at 8. p.m. at Haeundae Beach with concerts by popular Korean singers and a large fireworks display.
The festival's various related events include the Busan International Rock Festival at Dadaepo Beach from Aug. 4 to 5, the Hyeonin Singing Festival at Songdo Beach from Aug. 4 to 5 and the International Dance Festival at Gwangalli Beach from July 31 to Aug. 6.
At the two-day Busan International Rock Festival, the only free rock concert held on a Korean beach, 17 rock bands, including Korea's Kim Jong Seo band and Crying Nut, L.A. Guns from the United States, and Japan's Doberman, will perform.
In the International Dance Festival, 36 professional dance teams from nine countries will show off their talents in various dance genres, including belly, tap, break and jazz dancing.
Also at Gwangalli Beach, an online game match will be held on Aug. 4 with Korea's 12 professional gamers competing for the title of champion.
Various water sports festivals will be also held on the sidelines of the main events: a national windsurfing competition on Songjeong Beach from Aug. 2 to 5, the Busan Cup Yacht Race and water sports events on Aug. 5 at Suyeong Bay, and Ice sculpture and belly dancing compeitions at Gwangalli Beach from Aug. 4 to 6.
