Italian group I Musici to launch concert tour of S. Korea Friday

Italy's chamber music group I Musici will hold concerts in nine major Korean cities from Friday through April 30 beginning with a concert in Uijeongbu, north of Seoul.

It will be the 10th time for I Musici, meaning The Musicians, to perform for Korean fans since their first concert here in 1975.

The group will also perform in Jeonju, Ulsan, Changweon, Gwangju, Daegu, Daejeon, Busan and Seoul.

The group was founded in 1952 with 12 musicians who graduated from Santa Cecilia Academy of Italy. The chamber music group has wide-ranging repertories from baroque music to pieces by classical, romantic and contemporary composers.

In Korea, I Musici will present their unique repertoire, including A. Vivaldi’s Le Quatro Stagioni (Four Seasons), W.A.

Mozart's Rondo from Eine Kleine Nacht Musik, J. Pachelbel's Canon, L. Boccherini’s Minuetto, and A. Piazzolla's "Libertango." The concert schedule is as follows: April 14, 7:30 p.m.,

Uijeongbu Arts Center; April 15, 7 p.m., Sori Arts Center, Jeonju; April 20, 8 p.m., Hyundai Arts Center, Ulsan; April 21, 7:30 p.m., Sungsan Arts Hall, Changwon; April 22, 7:30 p.m., Gwangju Culture and Art Center; April 24, 7:30 p.m., Daegu Opera House; April 25, 7:30 p.m., Jeongsimhwa Hall, Chungnam National University, Daejeon; April 26, 7:30 p.m., Busan Cultural Center; April 29, 8 p.m., Seoul Arts Center; and April 30, 4 p.m., Seoul Arts Center.
