The City of Busan held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Hilton Busan Hotel and the Ananti Penthouse in the East Busan Tourism Complex on March 27, 2014. About 300 people including Busan Mayor Hur Nam-sik, Chairman of Busan Metropolitan Council Kim Seok-jo, delegations from Ananti Penthouse and Hilton International as well as Busan citizens participated in the ceremony.
The City of Busan has been developing the 3,660,000 square meter area of the East Busan Tourism Complex to establish a world class tourist resort. A theme park, an outlet shopping mall, sports and leisure facilities, and hotels will be built in stages until 2017.
The Hilton Busan Hotel and the Ananti Penthouse will be the main accommodations in the East Busan Tourism Complex. To ensure a design that was in tune with the surrounding natural environment, some of the world’s top experts in the fields of architecture, interior design, lighting, landscaping and environmental facilities were involved in the planning of the project for two years.
The Hilton Busan Hotel will be a ten-story building on an area of 88,254 square meters with a total of 306 rooms, each measuring at least 56 square meters in size. The Ananti Penthouse will also be a ten-story luxury hotel on an area of 78,438 square meters with a total of 204 rooms of 353 square meters each.
An official from the City of Busan reported that the two accommodations are scheduled to be completed the end of 2016. When they are completed, it is expected to revitalize the local economy and create new jobs. The construction and management of the facilities could result in an approximate 1.25 trillion won in production and about 5,600 new jobs annually.
