Traditional gardens from Busan’s sister cities are to be built in Busan Citizens Park which is scheduled to open the end of April, 2014.

To promote friendship among Busan’s 26 sister cities, the City of Busan asked its sister cities’ to establish a traditional garden in Busan Citizens Park and the cities of Fukuoka in Japan, Shanghai in China, and Vladivostok in Russia showed intentions of building their garden in the park.

On February 26, a delegation of 25 citizens of Fukuoka including the green coordinator of the City of Fukuoka, and many Green Environment major students from Nishi-Nippon Junior College visited Busan Citizens Park to build a 180-square-meter garden that accurately represented their city. They installed a bamboo fence donated by Japan, which a Fukuoka civil group made using Japanese traditional methods. They also planted grass and installed a stone walkway along parts of their garden.

A 198-square-meter Shanghai garden and a 135-square-meter Vladivostok garden will also be built and designed to represent each city.
