In the outstretched white sands of Haeundae Beach, the Haeundae Sand Festival will be held from June 7 to 10. Under the theme “The Cinema-Haeundae Sand Studio,” there are lots of events and marvelous things to see.

The “World Sand Sculpture Exhibition,” where artists recreate likenesses of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in sand, and the “Sand Board Festival,” where surfers ride the sand dunes that are up to 10 meters (32 feet) high, are just some of the thrilling adventures for tourists and residents alike.

The “Let’s Play Together with Sand” experience event, street parade, “Dancing with the Stars,” Haeundae Fringe Festival, sand market and marine experience are some of the numerous activities and events that are sure to excite the senses.

This year, there will be a celebratory air show by the Black Eagles special air show team, which won the grand prize at last year’s International Air Show held in Britain. Haeundae’s Fringe Festival will be held near Gunam-ro (the road between Haeundae Station and Busan Aquarium), which showcases various street performances by artists. “Challenge! I Too Can Be a Sand Sculptor” is a sand sculpture experience event that one can enjoy together with family, loved ones and friends.

After the festival is over, one can participate in a prize-giving event by uploading a photograph taken during the festival or posting comments about the sand fe stival at the main Web site (www.sandfestival.co.kr). The Haeundae Sand Festival was chosen as the “must see” festival of the year in Korea.
