Gwangalli Beach has been selected as one of Korea’s three outstanding beaches by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. The ministry has evaluated the major beaches using the following criteria combined with field surveys:
△ accessibility, announcement boards, evaluation by visitors and residents
△ waste water treatment systems, management of water running into the sea, sea water quality
△ public restrooms, showers, changing rooms, parking lots, and accommodations
△ variety of marine sports facilities and propriety of fees
Through this professional evaluation, three beaches―Naksan Beach in Yangyang, Gwangwon-do; Yulpo Solbat Beach in Boseon, Jeollanam-do; and Gwangalli Beach in Busan―have been selected as the three outstanding beaches in Korea.
As a result, Suyeong-gu District has been awarded 100 million won in government subsidies, which will be invested in improving the Gwangalli Beach environment, including making reed parasols and organizing Millak Waterfront Park.
