Ultra-size cargo vessels carrying up to 15,000 containers are coming to Busan one after the other. In April, CMA-CGM’s Alexander (16,022 TEU size) came followed by Ebba Maerk (15,500 TEU size).

The world’s largest cargo vessel, Denmark’s Maersk (18,000 TEU size), will come to Busan in July. The reason why global shipping companies are coming to Busan is not only because it is a central port in Asia with a depth of more than 15 meters (50 feet), but also, it has world-class harbor facilities and sufficient infrastructure.

The city also provides exemptions on entry/departure fees, docking fees and anchor fees for ultra-large container ships.

In Busan’s New Port, cargo vessels that were over 13,000 TEU size entered port 52 times until last month.

This is an increase in 21 percent compared to last year.
