Busan-Jinhae FEZ Authority starts operation Friday

The Busdan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone (FEZ) Authority, which will make Busan and Gyeongnam a Northeast Asian hub for maritime logistics, parts and materials, and research and development, officially started business Friday.

The authority is going to be entrusted with 1,219 tasks exclusive of three administrative sectors such as residence registration, social welfare and natural disaster in Gangseo-gu of the city and Jinhae, which are covering 31.54 million pyong.

The new organization is composed of two headquarters, three divisions, and three teams with which 154 employees from the Busan metropolitan city government and Gyeongnam provincial government have been staffed.

The authority plans to hold a series of meetings to attract foreign capital in New York and Frankfurt in May, and in Tokyo in June.
