Samsung Electro-Mechanics (SEM) announced Tuesday that it would commit itself to concentrating its energy on fostering a production base for its state-of-the-art products with a high added value such as boards, camera modules, multi-layer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs). The production base is located in the Noksan Industrial Complex in Busan.
The company is going to put 162.5 billion won into production of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), which accounted for 20 percent of its aggragate sales last year. It plans to establish more factories and install top-of-the-line facilities to make the production base turn out boards for cellular phones, mobile SEMBrid, and BGA (Ball Grid Array).
Since hard boards are being used for parts on liquid crystal and soft ones are being used for the section linking liquid crystal and the keypad, the boards will be able to hold a larger number of small parts than that of Multi Flexes, preventing themselves from bending. The products would be more environment-friendly as the company has decided not to use lead to produce them.
